Elsewhere in India is a live performance and video game experience set in a far future where world cultures are nearing extinction. This event narrates the rhythmic adventures of a cyborg and an artist duo who remix heritage, craft and science traditions in the year 2079 in post-cyberpunk India.
Co-produced byAntariksha Studio and Crossover Labs as part of The British Council's India/UK Together Season of Culture 2022-23, a cultural exchange programme between UK and India.
Elsewhere In India narrates the rhythmic adventures of a cyborg and an artist duo who remix heritage, craft and science traditions in the year 2079 in post-cyberpunk India. A new expression of South Asian dance music connecting heritage to new media through an evolving immersive (XR) performance and bringing the world creation of video games to live audiovisual performance.
For its India premiere at Magnetic Fields Festival, viewers follow the narrative through the eyes of Meenakshi, a fictional, out-of-work cultural cyborg, struggling to make a living, in the year 2079. Her chance meeting with Murthovic and Thiruda thrusts the trio into an adventure of self-discovery and space exploration.
Following Magnetic Fields, Elsewhere had its Australian premiere at Adelaide Fringe as part of Electric Dreams 2023, were it won a weekly award for Best Interactive, Digital or Film.
Elsewhere in India’s musical world takes you on a genre-agnostic journey with stops along the way including all shades of bass, house and techno – all filtered through a South Indian lens.
Artists: Thiruda and Murthovic
