The Centralised Immersive Storytelling Lab is a new multidisciplinary residential workshop, launched as part of a cross-state initiative to accelerate First Nations screen creatives in South Australia and Northern Territory.
Over 6 days, First Nations artists and storytellers worked to develop new virtual reality experiences that can inspire, delight and inform people across Australia and the world.
Led by Crossover Labs, the workshop brought together First Nation filmmakers, writers, photographers, theatre makers, technologists and artists. Crossover provided participants with in depth knowledge of the current VR landscape and explored with them the limitless possibilities of VR storytelling to express their unique worldview.
Working in teams of three, participants turned their creative vision into a functioning prototype VR experience that can be shown as proof of concept to future funders and investors.
Participants developed exciting and important new VR experiences while forging a network of practitioners who can continue to collaborate for years to come.
